Monitor memo boards: a small fix for a specific problem
Sticky notes on the bezel fall off, and notes on the desk get buried. A side panel solves both, which is why these sell steadily.
What they are
A clear or translucent panel that clips to the side or top edge of a monitor, giving you a vertical surface at eye level for notes.
They exist because the desk is horizontal and everything on it eventually gets covered.
Clip-on versus freestanding
Clip-on panels use the monitor bezel and take no desk space. Freestanding boards with a weighted base suit an all-in-one or a monitor with an unusual edge.
Check your bezel depth before buying a clip type; very thin bezels do not always hold.
Left, right or both
Right-hand panels suit right-handed writing. A pair either side gives you a visual split between today and later, which is more useful than doubling the space.
Above the monitor is possible but tends to sit outside your natural eyeline.
What they are good for
Short-lived information: a phone number for the afternoon, a queue of three tasks, a code you need twice. Anything permanent belongs somewhere else.
Used as a permanent noticeboard they become wallpaper within a week.
Write on the panel or on notes
Some panels take dry-wipe markers directly, which removes the paper entirely. Others are simply a holder for sticky notes.
Dry-wipe is cheaper over time; sticky notes are easier to hand to someone else.
Shared desks
In a hot-desking setup, a freestanding board travels and a clip-on tends to get left behind. That is worth thinking about before standardising an office.
Wooden-base versions look less temporary in a client-facing space.
Keep one surface, not four
The failure mode is having a panel, a desk pad note area, a notebook and a phone app. Pick the one you look at without deciding to.
For most people that is whichever one is at eye level.
What it costs
Across the 19 items currently listed, prices run from $5.97 to $35.99, with the middle of the range around $9.99. That spread is worth knowing before you start comparing, because the cheapest and dearest options here are usually not the same kind of product at all.
Shipping is a flat $4.99 per order and free once the order reaches $35.00, which is set out in full on the Shipping Policy page.
